Lockset from a Purdey 'Chillingham' rifle.
Set comprises: Lockplate, Hammer, Main spring, Sear spring, Tumbler, Sear, Bridle, Link/Stirrup, Tumbler fly.

Also available are : Trigger guard, Buttplate, Trigger plate and Trigger

During the unrest of the early 19th Century the Earl of Tankerville commissioned Purdey to manufacture 35 rifled muskets, to arm a yeomanry of whom were to protect his estate at Chillingham Castle, Northumberland.
They were presented to the Earl between February 1832 and June 1833 for a cost of £10 each. They were numbered in a different manner from other Purdey firearms, the last two manufactured were of a higher quality and rendered for the use of the earl and his son.
