Measuring Hammers
The measurement shown within the text of the products on this page is known as the 'throw' of the hammer.
To obtain this you must ascertain the distance you would require from the centre of the hammer fixing hole, to the centre of the hammer nose/nipple; as shown in the diagram on the right.
Boxlock hammers have an additional measurement, this being the width of the hammer that sits in the top plate slot.
Pinfire hammers show the distance from the fixing hole to the point at which the hammer touches the top of the pin.
